Music in War

Music played a very important part in the lives of so many people for so many different reasons. The songs that people sang and danced to helped to cheer everyday life in the home, in the factories, in the offices, and on the battlefield. So what would you have heard during the six years of war .... here's a small selection.

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission keeps a register of where many soldiers and civilians killed in the two World Wars are buried. They call this the 'Debt of Honour'. You might find it interesting to search for someone of YOUR surname.
