Hans Holbein was an artist who painted the rich and famous.  Look at some of his 'Windsor drawings'. They were sketches in pen and chalk that he made before painting a portrait. Perhaps you might try to copy some.

Pieter Breughal the Elder

Pieter Breugel was a Flemish painter. He painted very detailed pictures of country life during Tudor times.
His son who was also called Pieter did the same during Elizabethan times.
